Requesting components

If you can not find the component that you need on the NJR database you will need to make a new component request. All new component requests need to be completed online via the NJR data entry system.

To help us process your component requests, please provide us with the exact component description as stated on the implant label. For example ‘Charnley flanged cup 22.225/40 mm’ will give us sufficient information, whereas, ‘Charnley 22 mm cup’ will delay the request until more information has been provided.

If we need more information we will need to contact you, so please make sure you provide your email address and phone number with all requests.

Processing a new component request

Once a request is received, we will double check to see whether the implant component is in the database. Many of the components reported missing are actually on the database, but a component has not been recognised because its reference number on the database has a slightly different format from what has been written on the data collection form or printed on the component label.

Take a look at the different suppliers' formats by using the Locate Components data entry screen or download the Examples of Supplier Product Codes file to view a sample of the different formats used.

Located components

Check the number of records in your edit stack (edit mode) regularly. Once the component you have requested has been added to the NJR database it will appear in your edit stack as a ‘ready component’.

Please note that adding new component details to the NJR can take up to 6 weeks.
