How does the National Joint Registry's work benefit me? How can I become a part of the NJR's Regional Support network? Who are the working groups the NJR works with? Benefits of the NJR’s work

As part of our 20th anniversary activity, we have conducted a programme of work which aims to profile the successes and benefits that the NJR has realised for our stakeholders over the past two decades.

This work examines the value of the important tools and reporting systems that the NJR has developed over the years and makes available to a range of our stakeholders, as well as the benefits to wider society of a comprehensive national registry.

The first phase of this work has focussed on outlining to hospital executives what the tangible benefits are of the services that become available to them by subscribing to the NJR. This summary of benefits portal access has been shared with senior staff in all NHS and independent sector hospitals.

The second phase of the work takes a broader view of the improvements in joint replacement surgery practice over the years and assesses the wider benefits of our work to hospitals, surgeons, patients, health service regulators, manufacturers and the policymakers that have been associated with the development of the NJR’s activities over the years.

We have summarised these benefits in a series of articles that are being published in the Journal of Trauma and Orthopaedics (JTO) over the anniversary year (with the first of these having been published in June 2023 and the second part in the recent September issue). The articles explore the benefits the NJR provides for these different stakeholder groups: and are also being summarised in a sharable poster-format throughout our anniversary year as below.
