NJR Consultant Level Reports and Surgeon Level Reports

NJR Consultant Level Reports and Surgeon Level Reports

Consultant Level Reports (CLR) and Surgeon Level Reports (SLR) for FY 2022/23 are now available to download at NJR Connect – Data Services. Surgeons are advised to check their reports and get in touch with the NJR Service Desk if there seems to be any data missing or if it has been wrongly attributed. If you are at BOA Congress please visit our compliance officers for support at any time this week (NJR Stand 72).

Whilst the number of changes in the latest reports is limited, the most significant to note are:

Inclusion criteria – The normal criteria for the publication of a CLR or SLR is having procedures recorded in the latest financial year.  During, and immediately following, the COVID-19 pandemic, the inclusion criteria was increased to two years.  Now that the number of procedures being reported is at pre-pandemic levels, the inclusion criteria has been changed back to having procedures reported in the latest financial year.

Hip Section – Outcomes of hip resurfacing procedures had been withdrawn from the report.  This year’s report reintroduces these procedures into both activity and outcomes reports.

Knee Section – The knee section, including outcomes following surgery and the funnel plots, has been further broken down into Total Knee Replacement and Unicondylar Knee Replacement (excluding patello-femoral joint replacement).

Addendum Report – The record-level reports included in the Addendum Report will include the patient’s NHS number as well as the local patient identifier.  This will make it easier for surgeons to audit/follow up individual procedures.

Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel (ODEP) reporting – The way in which ODEP reports hip and knee devices has changed to include ‘constructs’ rather than individual devices.  The NJR is still in the process of testing the new classifications and, as a result, all ODEP reporting has been excluded from the report.  When reinstated next year, the reports will explicitly define those constructs which have not passed through the ODEP process.

Consultant Level and Surgeon Level Reports can be accessed via NJR Connect – Data Services. They can be found under the Reports menu.

If you have not yet accessed NJR Connect – Data Services, a log in user guide can be access from the landing page log in screen (please click on Further Information: User Guide). Additional information can be found in the Clinician Feedback user guide on the Resources page of the NJR Connect – Data Services system.

NJR Annual Clinical Reports are also being released slightly later than usual this year and will be available on NJR Connect in November.

Please kindly share this information with your surgeon colleagues.

Kind regards,

NJR Management Team
