The National Joint Registry (NJR) is delighted to welcome Health and Care, Jersey onto the registry having now extended joint procedure data collection, NJR reporting and orthopaedic surgery information services to Jersey’s General Hospital. The hospital currently carries out joint replacements across a population of more than 104,000 people and their participation with the NJR means that Jersey joins England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and Guernsey, to become part of the largest orthopaedic registry in the world, with the NJR now holding almost 4.5 million surgical procedure records, which steadily increases by around 250,000 records year-on-year.

The growth of this large and valuable data set enables the NJR to monitor and report on implant, hospital and surgeon performance and to highlight areas of poor and best practice, as well as providing a rich and important source of data to facilitate research. These key areas of the NJR’s work are of significant value in ensuring a focus on patient safety and on improving patient outcomes across joint procedures, so we are very pleased to extend the benefits of being on the registry to Jersey’s General Hospital.
