The NJR is seeking an Information Governance Manager

Salary: c. £38,000
Location: London (some national travel may occasionally be required)
Closing date for applications: 30 July 2016

HQIP is a small, dynamic organisation with a broad remit that is entering an exciting phase in its development. A key strand of our work programme is the commissioning and management of the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcome Programme on behalf of NHS England with whom we work closely.

The National Joint Registry of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man [NJR] collects data about joint replacement surgery [hip, knee, elbow, shoulder, ankles] in order to provide an early warning of issues relating to patient safety, improve the quality of outcomes and ensure cost effectiveness of joint replacement surgery. The NJR is the largest arthroplasty register and one of the most influential healthcare registries in the world with a significant international profile.

Further information can be found via the NJR website here.

The NJR is a uniquely powerful resource that can support enquiry and demonstrate the value and impact of joint replacement surgery on patients. Demand for NJR data access is therefore high and while the registry’s aim is to make data widely available, this must be managed responsibly within an approved governance structure to ensure safe, effective and efficient data management. The NJR management team, based at HQIP, manages the registry’s work across its governance structure. We are now seeking to recruit to the post of information governance manager to join the NJR team.

If you are seeking a new and exciting challenge to take on a highly responsible role with an internationally recognised clinical registry and have the relevant experience and skills, we would love to hear from you. We support flexible working and are based in the City of London with excellent transport links.

The work of the NJR focuses on the following key strategic areas:

  • Patient safety and patient outcomes
  • Surgeon and Implant performance monitoring
  • Information availability and data access
  • Research and data management
  • Data quality
  • International collaboration
  • Service development
  • Stakeholder communications

Key requirements of this position are:

  • Responsibility for providing leadership to the NJR regarding data governance and legislation, and good governance of the NJR data request infrastructure
  • To provide specialist advice and expertise on NJR matters related to data and information management

Key personal specification requirements are:

  • The post holder will possess specialist knowledge of information governance functions and understanding in relation to healthcare provision and the NHS, using their in-depth knowledge to inform and contribute to IG strategy within the NJR
