National Joint Registry Fellow receives international recognition
4 July 2012
The NJR is pleased to congratulate NJR Fellow Paul Baker, who has received international recognition for his presentation at the first International Society of Arthroplasty Register (ISAR) conference in Bergen, Norway.
His presentation, on the NJR paper 'Comparison of patient-reported outcome measures following total and unicondylar knee replacement' was voted one of the six best presentations at the conference, out of a total of 57 accepted for the three-day event held in May 2012.
The paper is due to be published in the Journal of Bone and Joint surgery (Br) later this month. The Journal of Bone and Joint surgery (Br) publishes original papers from all over the world focussing primarily on clinical research in the field of orthopaedics and its related sub-disciplines.
The NJR became a member of ISAR last year and is committed to its purpose; to improve outcomes for individuals receiving joint replacement surgery worldwide and enhance the capacity of individual registries by enabling greater cooperation and sharing of information.
NJR Vice-Chairman Paul Gregg commented: "This is an accolade for Paul, who has achieved a great deal in his NJR Fellowship and deserves congratulations on this excellent paper. Our thanks too must also go to his supporting team at the University of Newcastle. The NJR is committed to supporting Fellowships as part of its role to enable research and maximise the value of the data the registry collects."
Mr Paul Baker said: "I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to present at the ISAR conference, it was a very engaging and successful programme for all who attended. The NJR Fellowship has been equally engaging and challenging and I would like to extend additional thanks to Simon Jameson, as a co-author for this paper and colleague, as NJR Fellow for a similar term."
