NJR confirms two new industry representatives to its Steering Committee

The National Joint Registry is pleased to announce that two new industry representatives have been appointed to its Steering Committee (NJRSC).

Confirmed by NHS England in November, Nicholas Wishart, Managing Director, Wright Medical UK Ltd and Michael Green, General Manager, Stryker Implants UK will join their first NJRSC meeting on 28 January 2014.

The group, an NHS England Committee of Experts, is responsible for the work and progress of the registry and comprises the following stakeholders:

  • Orthopaedic surgeons
  • Patients
  • NHS and independent healthcare providers
  • Allied health professionals
  • Public health/Epidemiology and
  • Industry (orthopaedic implant suppliers)
NJR Chairman Laurel Powers-Freeling said: “We look forward to welcoming both Nicholas Wishart and Michael Green to the committee. Our thanks go to outgoing industry representative Mick Borroff who, since 2002, has helped us to deliver improved data and services to all those committed to improving joint replacement surgery. In particular, Mick has been an integral part of the development of Supplier Feedback – a world-first online portal giving implant suppliers direct access to their implant data.”

These appointments are the first two of a total of four Steering Committee posts advertised earlier in the year. These posts, and an NJR Medical Director post, are expected to be announced shortly.
