19 September 2014
The National Joint Registry for England, Wales and Northern Ireland is pleased to publish updated patient information materials comprising the official NJR patient consent form and complementary patient information leaflet and poster.
Important updates include information about the use of NJR data in research and how and why NJR data is sometimes linked to other healthcare information. Plus, information on other key areas of interest for patients for example, the surgeon and hospital information available at www.njrsurgeonhospitalprofile.org.uk.
"We encourage all hospitals to ensure they are using the correct version of the patient consent form so that patients understand the benefits of having their information recorded on the NJR and how their data is used" said NJR Director of operations Elaine Young. "The updated patient information leaflet and poster also support this process and can help hospital staff to explain fully, the role of the registry in protecting patient safety and monitoring the performance of implants, hospitals and surgeons."
